So today, let’s talk about tips that will help you obtain a successful fitness plan for this year. First and foremost, we all start the year off hoping to make improvements in our diet and lifestyle. But, how many of us have already stopped exercising?
When it comes to making changes in our lifestyle; it’s better to make a few small changes gradually. When it come to our fitness goals; many of us fall off the bandwagon a month into the New Year.
Best Ways to Stick to a Fitness Plan
In the first place, it is best to set a goal. For instance, it all starts with a simple plan. When you try to achieve too much; it probably isn’t realistic. However when you try and set a realistic goal; chances are you will be much more successful.
For example, set a goal to lose 20 pounds; but give yourself six months to achieve this. If you try and accomplish too much to soon; you may lose sight of your initial goal. In addition, the longer it takes; chances are the weight will stay off. A realistic goal is to lose 1/2 pound to 2 pounds a week. Or, you can try and lose 5 pounds a month. Of course, these are obtainable.
In any case, you may be looking to join a gym or participate in a fitness program. But, finding one you like is the key to success. By finding something you actually like; you will actually enjoy the class. In my opinion, I like Pilates and dancing. Both of these are things I like to do and I don’t feel like I’m overdoing it.
Fitness Progress
At the same time, it is good to set a plan to reach your goal. Again, the best way to do this is to start slow. As I always say, “slow and steady wins the race”. If you’re joining a runners club; start slow. Visit our Beginner Marathon Training After Age 40 post. Although you may not be planning to run a marathon; the same tips apply. Of course, anything you set your mind to, can be achieved by taking proper steps and staying on track.
As always, I welcome your comments.
